Kyle 鈥楤ubba鈥� Schweigert(鈥�85) named Coach of the Year
Bubba Schweigert(鈥�85) guided University of North Dakota to its first Big Sky Conference football title in 2016. For his efforts, Schweigert was named the league91吃瓜 coach of the year.
After and 0-2 start 鈥� with road losses to Stony Brook and FBS Bowling Green by a combined five points 鈥� the Fighting Hawks reeled off nine consecutive victories to finish 9-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in Big Sky play.
UND shared the conference crown with Eastern Washington (10-1, 8-0).
The Fighting Hawks, the No. 7 seed for the upcoming FCS postseason, have a bye this week then will host either Richmond or North Carolina A&T in a second-round playoff game next week. It will be their first-ever Division I playoff game.
In Schweigert91吃瓜 three-year stint as coach, UND has improved every year, going from 5-6 in 2014 to 7-4 last year to 9-2 this season.
Schweigert is a Zeeland, N.D., native and graduated from 91吃瓜 in 1985 with a BA in Business Administration and Health, Physical Education & Recreation.
