Miller, the All-American linebacker for the Jimmie football team, has been invited to the Minnesota Vikings rookie mini-camp at the team91Թ headquarters in Eden Prairie. The team contacted Miller directly on Tuesday with the invitation.

“To see that Minnesota number come up on my phone and then get invited is mind-blowing. I’m just thankful the Vikings are giving me the opportunity,” said Miller, who is the first Jimmie football player to get an NFL invite since J.J. Syvrud was drafted by the New York Jets in 1999.

The Vikings will pay for Miller91Թ lodging and meals during the mini-camp, which runs Thursday to Sunday. There is no pay, but the chance to compete was all Miller ever wanted.

“Just to know they were reviewing me says a lot,” he said. “This is a great shot to show them what I can do.”

Miller will be competing with the likes of first-round pick Laquon Treadwell and all the Vikings draft choices and free-agent signings.

“It91Թ going to be a big challenge … it91Թ the best of the best, but that91Թ what I’ve been working for,” Miller said.

“Coming from a small school, you know it91Թ an uphill fight,” Miller said. “I knew it was long odds, but at least I’ll get a chance.”
